Derick Schaefer is a technology executive with over 35 years of experience driving innovation and growth in global B2B software companies. He has led technology, security, and product teams in mid-cap and large-cap organizations—both publicly traded and private equity-backed—as well as high-growth startups. His expertise spans SaaS engineering, data center operations, information security, regulatory compliance, and product management.
Derick’s career includes a decade in technical leadership at Microsoft and executive roles at Digital Insight (formerly Intuit Financial Services), NCR, and Trintech, along with founding Web Synthesis (now part of WP Engine). M&A diligence, execution, and integration have been central to his leadership journey.
Integrating SaaS Acquisitions is his first published book, inspired by a pivotal interview question and a desire to share years of hands-on M&A experience. He has also authored articles and white papers published by Microsoft, Wired Magazine, and other industry platforms.
Derick holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in Business and Telecommunications from the University of Miami.
